Have been doing this for years, either take o-ring out of barrel band or Rowan engineering do one with larger hole, I have been told that the barrel will droop, but I have not had any problems, and yes they are flimsy. Rog

Are you removing the barrel band for looks or performance Roger, I have just read a thread about the cylinder moving slightly when emptying transferring to the barrel because of barrel band

It's all about performance, not over worried about how they look, the pellet has got to go where I want it to, keep the band on in case you knock it but open up the hole where the barrel goes, easy enough to test, benchrest with band on, then try with band off. Rog

My MPR barrel band has two grub screws so the barrel can be made solid. It comes from the factory with them loose. I cant think of a reason to do them up.

Slightly different with MPR as you have a proper barrel fitted, and I like the idea of leaving grub screws loose, can't believe I hadn't thought of that, I would still float the barrel though, and the barrel band on MPR 10m sporter/ precision & biathlon are all different from FT. Rog

So did you see a noticeable difference rog I am definitely going to test it out soon as I get to my local range crazy to think the cylinder could move around

It dsnt really move around, it expands and contracts with the pressure in the cylinder, if you open up the hole that barrel goes through, it can't effect the barrel. Rog
