That's all very well if it's a simple venturi adjustment. There's not much to go wrong with the unregulated guns but if, for example, you needed a new block it would be a costly mistake.Roger5 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 5:26 pmAnd mine also, your a man after my own heart PeterTenMetrePeter wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2019 11:05 pmOr you could take out the anti tamper and do the job properly yourself. Cheap as chips from Julian. The stock is the most expensive part (and I threw mine out as it was total pants)tonyc wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 5:43 pmThat's all very well if it's a simple venturi adjustment. To be honest the power adjust cover screw is the only one I use a pillar drill for, the other three I do by hand with a battery drill, but I have done quite a few, including my new to me TDR

I wish they wouldn’t use such hard stainless for the cover screw.
I started mine off with a hand drill and cobalt steel bit and got probably 1mm deep but it was so hard I had to transfer to a pillar drill to get the pressure (not in the video!) Only had the one 2mm bit and didn’t want to twang it.
Its a beggar to hold it flat on the drill table.
How do AA approved service centres get them out?

Don't know how the service centre does it, my pillar drill has a small vice fitting which keeps it still, and I use a centre dill, not an ordinary 2mm wobbly bit

Although I've taken out several venturi AT's successfully, after a recent incident involving a broken drill, a lot of swearing and a lot of damage (fortunately to my own rifle otherwise it would have been very embarrassing
) I will just buy a new firing valve body. Call me a coward, but....

A couple of months ago there was a jig for sale on e-bay purporting to be as used by AA to drill out the power adjuster cover screw. It was a semicircular collar with a hole that lined up with the cover plug.
It went for £40 ! I've tried to put up a picture of it without success.

You don't really have to drill them out, just into the cap, then tap the end of an Alan key into it and unscrewwoody2906 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 1:06 pmA couple of months ago there was a jig for sale on e-bay purporting to be as used by AA to drill out the power adjuster cover screw. It's on my list of things to do, drill a hole in it as per TenmetrePeter's Youtube video and tap a torx bit into it for ease of turning.

Absolutely! 2mm dia by 2mm deep is plenty.Roger5 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 3:09 pmYou don't really have to drill them out, just into the cap, then tap the end of an Alan key into it and unscrewwoody2906 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 1:06 pmA couple of months ago there was a jig for sale on e-bay purporting to be as used by AA to drill out the power adjuster cover screw. As the plug is conical I expect turning up a sleeve with a 2mm bore and female cone would be easy. A centre punch is a lot quicker and you have to remove the pip either way.
