Polishing spring ends
Polishing spring ends
I have read a lot lately about polishing the spring ends on my tx200. I have been unable to find any videos, and a lot of what I read online seems to be the work of hackers. Does anyone know of a video or set of instructions including materials to do this job correctly? Or is it even worth it? Thanks

Re: Polishing spring ends
The idea of polishing spring ends is to allow rotation when compressed
Place some 400 grit paper on a bench and lightly rub the spring end whilst checking it’s progress as you go along.
If you have a long spring that you want shortening then you cut to length using a dremel. The end of the cut end needs to be heated up with a blow torch then whilst still glowing red use a pair of pliers to set the end to have a flat base. Only heat the very end and protect the rest of the spring from heat. This can be done by using a wet cloth.
Hope this helps

I use a very fine wet and dry and use autosol paste. place the wet and dry on a pane of glass to ensure it is flat. a small amount of autosol on the wet and dry. hold the spring between the palms of your hands. use an action as if you are starting a fire with a stick. polish until you are satisfied.
