Dear All
I am a newby to PCP air rifles, got a Air Arms S410 carbine and have been using it for target shooting, recently purchased a chrono and was quite shocked to see the variance in velocities and what appears to be the low foot pound measurement.
The gun I acquired second hand from a retiring shooter, he had shot about 2 to 3000 pellets through it before he gave up. I am using a cylinder to recharge to 180bar it is a 177 and I am getting fps of 630 to 710 using a 8.4 grain JSB pellet.
So I guess the question is how to I get a more consistent fps and get it up to the sweet spot of around 11.5 foot pounds??? I dont want anything illegal or even borderline.
Look forward to any feedback
Cheers
Paul

It might pay to fill in your location, there might be a member near to you who could help, without seeing the rifle it's hard to tell what the problem is. Probably only needs strip and clean. Rog

Many thanks for response Roger5
Can you or does anybody know where I can obtain a maintenance and set up manual for the rifle, I am more than set up for the job just need the sequence and set up data.
Cheers

Dear Bullet, boy that seems to have hit the mother load, will work my way through that thread. I am surprised nobody has written an overhaul manual for these great guns made in the UK
Re: Under performing S410 carbine
To be honest, once the anti tamper is out they are pretty easy to work on, which is the reason I love them, they don't really have any bad problems, some of the S510s with the shrouded barrels can be a pain, pellet clipping being the main problem, but apart from that, they are pretty much bomb proof, 50yd bunnys ok with .177 and my .22 gets used out in the woods, you can pay a lot more for a rifle, but there really is no need, the S400/410/510 can do it all. Just been told off for leaving the little cz200 out, another brilliant piece of kit. Rog
Re: Under performing S410 carbine
Ive just fixed mine for £41-85 it was only kicking out 6ft/lb but with a new striiker and striker rod and spring and new striker bushes a couple of seals its back up to the legal 11ft/lb + yes you can polish the rod etc but if it has marks on just buy new
