tie a balloon or plastic bag firmly to the muzzle end of the barrel and see if it inflates over a day. Bolt closed.
50 bar in 2 weeks is quite slow but not normal.

Isn't it just physics? Compress a gas and the temp goes up. All the energy you put in at the lever is stored in the spring but then on release will be converted partly in kinetic energy of the pellet plus some heat as the air compresses ahead of the piston. The heat is conducted through the cylinder...

Also I think I would let it run in for a bit before deciding to go the Regulator route as it does entail drilling a hole in your nice new cylinder. Not if you use an Altaros reg, no need to drill your cylinder for one of these, so you can go back and take it out if not happy later, or put it in ano...
