You would either have a fair amount of creep before the rifle actually fired or it would be dangerously easy to negligently fire as soon as the safety is clicked off.

HI, Don't drill the cylinder as this will instantly devalue the rifle. Find a spring set-up that reduces recoil and get a decent one-piece scope mount. Out of curiosity, what is the serial number?
