Re: About time!

I agree with you Kwaka and I like the sentiments in the Indian and Welsh anthems. We need something similar to represent England. England is not one person - i.e. a king or queen. It is an ideal, a people from many walks of life, a beautiful country as are Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Sorry Raj I ca...

it most certainly isn't ......

It most certainly is!

A National Anthem needs to be about the country not an individual.

Re: Next year

If next year passes a quick as this 1 seems to have, i will be looking back at the things i should have done rather than what I actually did. Kevin This is the most realistic answer. I'll give some examples - a) I was going to have a new bathroom in 7 years ago, it happens next year! b) It must be ...

Re: Coup de Grass

Aye truly awful. I thank my lucky stars I am not in a flood zone. When it hoys it down in bucket loads my house is the only one in the street in a bad position. If the road is a torrent it pours over the pavement, down my drive and gathers as a substantial puddle sometimes under my bay window. Somet...

Pau and the Pyrenees. Ever been Sake-san?

The reason I ask is because I have a penchant for old period literature particularly from the twenties and thirties. Timmytree also knows of my shared love of HV Morton, a travel writer and journalist from that period - probably the first, did you know, to travel round by car describing his journeys...

Yet another example of why not to buy online aside? Use them or lose them is my adage and I'd rather pay over the odds with a reputable or local company than risk this kind of situation. If things go wrong you can go back and bollock them! I don't want local shops large or small to disappear either ...

Coup de Grass

Well given my lawn is still growing up here on the North East coast I aim to cut it on New Years Eve. Crazy. The roses are looking good too on one of the standard rose bushes - a lovely deep red. The sprouts haven't tasted as good this year as no frost nor the parsnips - somehow a frost enhances the...
