Re: mag modification idea from John814ce.....

As I said, mine's working so I'll leave it.
If you've made the probe smaller diameter and pushed the pellet in further you have created additional air space... which will reduce initial pressure. There is a gain; it will improve air flow at a given pressure... but the net effect???.

Re: Transfer Port Screw Adjustment

Just screw it right out. You might want to first screw it right in, counting the turns so you can put it back roughly as it was. Peter, do you know the dimension or how many turns are required for the transfer port to be fully un-restricted? I wondered if there is an easy way of setting this in con...

Re: mag modification idea from John814ce.....

I had a look at my S510 (brass insert) but there's no easy way to see if the pellet is seated or to measure where the barrel starts unless I take the barrel out, which I'm not inclined to do when everything is working fine. I might be able to see with a micro-endoscope... if I can find where I put i...

Re: mag modification idea from John814ce.....

If yours works as you've set it up that's fine.
I'm not experiencing any issues with either my S400 or S510 US. In fact the S510 is giving very consistent velocities as it's regulated, and no issues with grouping, so best left as it is, I think! :D

Re: Transfer Port Screw Adjustment

A further suggestion, if you feel up to it! If you reduce the pre-load on the firing valve spring you can restrict the maximum power to below 12ft lb when the transfer port is unrestricted. To do this you will need to de-pressurise the cylinder and unscrew it from the action. Then unscrew the valve ...

Re: mag modification idea from John814ce.....

No theres a perfectly good explanation why i dont want the new solid index post. I dont know if you read the thread about the pellets not seating? Well i have had a slight mod on my loading bolt to rectify this ( i sent Julian a pic not sure if hes still got it? Maybe he will put it on hear for me ...

Re: mag modification idea from John814ce.....

It looks like you have just filed the trailing edge of each slot. I can't see how that affects the life of the spring given that the number of flexes and the magnitude of each deflection is unchanged. So I'd be interested to know what evidence you have for the spring lasting 4 to 5 times longer. The...

Re: 190 bar fill

Surely there would test at the peak of the curve wouldn't they? Wouldn't need to. Once you know the characteristics of the curve you can, from just a few shots, predict within a few fps what the velocity will be at any position of the curve. The first thing I did with my S400 was to map the curve s...

Re: 190 bar fill

Cheers Tony, it would have been good of them to let you know what bar that was at.... I phoned AA after the gun was returned specifically because I wanted to know on what part of the power curve they did their test. I was told it was after the cylinder was filled and a few shots taken to adjust the...
