Re: You're early airgun days.

When I was 11 I bought one of these Czech things from the school bring and buy sale. 1962ish. Had it a few years then nothing for 35 years til I discovered FT.
Got it confiscated several times for breaking windows and using next doors chimney cowl as a bell target.

That's £71 for the front and back sights to save looking!

Re: Heavy rust on old airgun

We all love airguns and rescuing a wreck is always gratifying. De-rusting and refinishing applies to all makes. However I agree that buying one without sights where the rifle relies on the proprietary ones (no sight rails on this model I believe) can be an expensive mistake. Ebay is the only sensibl...

Re: Heavy rust on old airgun

Yes I agree use fine 0000 wire wool and any acid rust remover (Jenolite used to be best but I expect someone in F***ing EU banned it). If this thing is really heavily rusted the idea is to get down to silver metal and have it as shiny as possible even using metal polish. Then you can use a gel metho...

Re: Suggestions for making the action on my S410 quieter?

Me neither re action but my 10m version has a bloop tube fitted aka an amplifier! We wear ear defenders or plugs too partly because of the bang indoors makes you jump, partly because of the dirty jokes in the back room.
But if the ear defenders touch the cheekpiece you can hear pinnnnnnggg!

Re: Suggestions for making the action on my S410 quieter?

search the forum for de-pinger and anti-bounce hammer. They are not quick fixes!
Don't even think about oiling the hammer or spring.
Turn off the hearing aid is quickest.

Re: British made scopes?

The London makers like Wray, Watson , Dollond didn't really get into rifle scopes. We made plenty of microscopes and astronomical instruments. Wray made binos for the war effort. There is a website below showing British scopes (Periscopic Prism Co. Ltd)  for SMLEs but I reckon it was cheaper to buy ...
