Had a message from AA after giving them the serial number their going to replace the sear FOC so alls well that ends well

Well now AA want the serial number off the gun
Why they couldn't have asked for that I the beginning I don't know!
Now it's another day lost getting it sorted

It's definitely steel as I lifted the first broken piece with a magnetic screwdriver

The answer to all your questions is I don't know to be honest.
It doesn't seem like cheap metal their quite heavy for how small they are.
Maybe the slot allows lub to get to the pin?

Well I've stripped the trigger down tonight and can confirm the top sear is broken in half at the pivot hole.
I messaged Air Arms last night and they have asked me to have a look at the sears so I've messaged them again tonight with pictures so I'll keep you posted on their response
