Re: Striker rod

I believe the striker rod/rail is always Loctited in. There is a little detail amongst the Lanes Regulators' technical blurb showing how the rod needs to be heated near the junction with the valve body until a little smoke indicates that the Loctite has burnt off. Then use a Mole grip to unscrew it....

Re: Air Arms barrel band.

Yes, I guess that's a more direct and concise way of putting it The barrel band is not there to position the barrel, just to support/protect it against outside influences.

Re: Dialing for elevation.

Rather late in the day, but I got thinking about the original question... I only shoot targets on a range (so far) and generally find that a 25 yd zero allows me to hit the kill zone on drop down targets from 10 - 30 yds without recourse to holdover (S400 in .177). However, if I move onto the 55yd r...

Re: Lacking wind post rebuild

Surely if it were leaking and losing pressure until it vents, then the final audible vent would be through the breech not the filler valve? It sounds to me as though the filling valve is not functioning correctly, despite the attention you have lavished on it (no gratitude). You certainly should not...

Re: Removed the brass firing pot.

It is my understanding that the part you have removed acts as a sort of plenum chamber giving some restriction to the flow to the firing valve at the higher pressure end of the scale. This also fits in with the multi variable balance of parts and adjustments in this remarkably successful non-regulat...

Re: Air Arms barrel band.

There is an AA video on their YouTube channel showing realignment on a stepped jig. I guess this has proven adequate to make the rifle more accurate than most shooters, so you can understand why no greater expense is wasted during manufacture. The method shown might be improved by making it two-hand...

Re: S510 - Air "Puffing" at Shroud Holes

Delrin? I thought the transfer port seal on the 510 was just an o-ring, like on the 400 series...

The holes at the breech end of the shroud are the vents that allow the muzzle blast to route back through it and the baffles therein to quieten it.

Re: First addition!

The action and barrel should be wiped down with an oily rag immediately after use and the gun put away without any further handling - that takes care of fingerprints and any other rust promoting deposits. If you've been out in the rain, you should drop the action out of the stock, wipe dry and give ...

Re: s410 not zeroing. what have I done wrong?

Glad to hear you've got it sorted. Just for amusement, I had a similar problem keeping the scope tight. It turned out I hadn't noticed the locking pin (used to stop the mounts sliding back under recoil on a springer). As it was stopping the mount from fully engaging with the rail, the gun was shooti...
