Re: prosport spring twang and my theory

I don't have any twang. I'm running the original spring and seal. I did have twang but I polished the spring ends, applied a bit of lube (moly grease) to the exterior of the spring and the twang went away. I don't have a very tight spring guide - about 0.010" clearance, or about 0.25 mm I think.

Re: shooting UP or DOWN, expert backs me up!

I really don't understand the logic involved. If I shoot at a target ten meters away the pellet travels ten meters. If I shoot at a target ten meters away and it is ten meters up a tree or on a hill side ten meters below me the pellet must travel 14.1 meters. Gravity may only work on horizontal trav...

Re: TX 200 ....

If all stock screws are tight it is possible for the stock mounting bracket to be loose from the barrel. I put Loctite on my bracket as well as the screw threads.

Re: Un-molested TX's

Unsure what is meant by "unmolested TX". Mine is not in UK (USA). It's a 2010 model and the factory lube was poor. I molested the lube by replacing it. The stock retaining bracket was of inferior design and poor selection of metal. It broke during reassembly. I had a new one custom machine...

Re: Serial No, year of Manufacture

I sent an email to Air Arms. They responded with the year, month, and date of manufacture of my rifle, the original velocity of the gun, and the vendor to whom they delivered it as well as the stock material and a bit of other info. Ask them about your gun. At worst they'll tell you their records do...

Re: 3 slot piston in breach.

I can't give you a specific year. The bear trap first appeared on the Mark II. When they went to the Mark III they went to three slots for the bear trap.

Re: TX200 trigger problem?

My TX 200 originally required the extra tug as well. I thought it normal - then the cocking shoe broke and the gun would no longer cock. I replaced it with a machined steel one from Air Rifle Headquarters (USA). The cocking is now smoother than it has ever been before. I can not say enough good thin...

Re: tx200 mk 2 - Hot

To my understanding a spring being tight on the guide is a good thing - it helps reduce twang. It may also reduce power slightly. Your main concern appears to be too much power. You may opt of a spring with thinner wire - Air Rifle Headquarters sells them. A new piston seal will slide less freely in...

Re: Piston seal

I believe power in a springer is derived to a large part to the swept volume of the piston in the cylinder. A shorter stroke results in a lower swept volume. Increasing the preload on the spring will make a more harsh shot cycle with little improvement in power.

Re: Scope recommendations for a TX200

Personally using a Sun 4-16 X 50 AO IR on my TX 200. My other guns sport Hawkes. The TX 200 is not a harsh shooter so about any scope that will stand up to an airgun should work.
