Re: My first go with.177

Airgun world doing a calibre comparison series now And very interesting. The airgun media is very untrustworthy and I'd advise caution on a great deal of what they write which is driven by commercial forces. I know people who used to write for them and no longer do because of these issues. Dont tak...

Re: Altaros regulator

I agree Raj, that's the whole idea of a regulator in a rifle. They are designed to shoot the same over the entire fill. My Webley LiteW8 which was fitted by Phil Crampton of the Rat Works is good right the way through the shot count. All I need to do is get my range to the target and work out my ho...

Re: Altaros regulator

Some tuners have told me that although regs give more shots, their variability is greater over the sweetspot.... Strange Because my regulated rifles do not have a sweet spot - the whole of the fill is the sweet spot. And there is no variability increase ... I found a big decrease in shot-to-shot as...

Re: Lane Regulator.

Good luck with it mate. Like others have said above I'd be nervous drilling into the gun, even more so knowing that AAs have a saftey feature where the end nozzle fails with high pressure (as far away from your face as possible as well). Drilling into your gun may offset that saftey feature - but I'...

Re: My first go with.177

Nice shooting and a pretty looking gun. Of course, you would still have bagged them with a .22 :D

Re: Altaros regulator

I'm not a tuner. But my understanding is you should not really fit a reg to an AA S400 series unless its an absolute lemon. Talk to AA about their views on regulators and why a polish and lube is, on the whole, all you need. No regulated gun I have ever encountered has out performed my non-regged AA...

Re: Air Arms S510 Carbine .22 pellet question

I'm not upset mate, just pullin someones leg......and FAC was mentioned earlier in the thread to be fair - click back a page for evidence (rhogg said it). I was just passing on what I've learned over 35years worth of chats to chaps who know more than me with regards FAC.... Apologies for not being c...

Re: Air Arms S510 Carbine .22 pellet question

I apologise I'm not respected enough...... However, I'd point out that the heavier pellets (super heavies, baracuda extremes, etc) are excellent in FAC .22s and are arguably directed right at that market - though i suppose it depends on power levels above 12ft-lbs that you have. Just my opinion.....

Re: Air Arms S510 Carbine .22 pellet question

I have a S510 FAC .22. I have used the JSB Match Diabolo - Exact Jumbo Diabolo 5.51 & 5.52 and I can say they have not worked for me. My grouping at 50m was three inches at best. My old S410 .177 can manage less than a inch groupings at that distance. The advice I have been given was to use onl...

Re: History of AA guns

Thanks to all for the input - fasinating read. I must confess my AA knowledge does not go much before the S310 / Pro Elite. So nice to hear about all these other models. Makes me wonder if, accuracy wise, PCPs have peaked and all the modern twists are small potatoes really.
