It will work without the top sear spring but it might be a bit sluggish, the spring helps the top sear to disengage from the hammer, if you have a trigger that is over lubed it might not even disengage when you pull the trigger, and if you have a pellet in there! Rog

XTX is the fella for the tool that you need, they can be a real sod to undo. Raj done a guide about getting the ends off, it's on the Altaros website, well worth a look. Rog. Just had a look at Altaros dosnt seem to be there any more, Raj will probably explain it to you

Raj, Thanks for that , I thought there probably shouldn't be air escaping there! I did initially think it was coming from the breech area as the oring on the bolt was missing, but I fitted a new oring from a kit and I hope its the right size , is there one size for .177 and.22 or are they different...

Could be the power adjusting screw, they can turn themselves in and reduce the power sometimes, I have seen this happen on a couple of S510s at my club, they start off high and slowly reduce in power, just like you are experiencing. Rog

How long is a piece of string mate, they don't seem to come cheap, standard walnut £300+ and thumb hole about £400+ custom stocks do CS500 for £185 and CS700 thumbhole for £210 they are nice stocks, I have two of them, one on my HW80 and the other on an HW95. The A/A ones ain't cheap?

I am more than happy with my 9~13 but they do a 6-9 which might be better for benchrest, just make sure you get one that swivels, and yes it will fit QD stud, I have one on an ultimate stock and another on an MPR both work ok. Rog

You need a QD stud from Rowanengineering.com, and it's just an accessory rail. Any bipod should fit on QD stud, I use a Harris 9-13 the one that tilts. Rog
