Re: How many coats of oil on stock?
Not sure if AA have applied any top coat, it just looks like polished walnut to me, applying a few coats of CCL oil does appear (to me) to have brought out the colour and grain a bit... see photos https://preview.ibb.co/bA5Hca/AA_s410_TDR_walnut_oiled2.jpg https://preview.ibb.co/n5Bqxa/AA_s410_TDR_w...

Re: Spring vs. pcp
I think springers quite often do well in competitions against pcp's, they say learn to shoot with a springer which will teach you the basics....

BBF
I have taken the Timbum tuning baffle kit out and put the original baffle back in, so its doing the same as the first lot of readings, eg: around 78.5dB

Timbum Tuning - sound levels tested - HW97
Weihrauch HW97 KT Sound levels My 97 had a bit of a twang, then I had it tuned (SFS) and it seemed to be slightly quieter, (I understand the tuning process can result in a smoother action so less twang on firing). I then read / heard about the Timbum Tuning baffle kits, I was intrigued to see if the...

Re: S410 TDR Review
Nice review. Have you put a sling on it,if so what did you go for. BBF No, I haven't fitted a sling yet, not sure if I will as its so light (compared to my HW97KT which is a heavy beast) it should be easy to lug araound, plus of course there is the small case too, which can be used as a rucksack...

S410 TDR Review
Ok, I’ve had the TDR long enough now to form an opinion of it, so here goes… Ever since I first saw the TDR I wanted one, some rifles you just see and you know that one day, you must have one, well that was many years ago and I’ve been patiently waiting ever since, till I finally decided to bite the...

Re: How many coats of oil on stock?
Am using CCL oil, the bottle says to apply every day...
Did not take it back to bare wood, am just applying over the original walnut, the grain is slowing coming out and the colour is getting deeper, its slowly working and looking better than the standard.

How many coats of oil on stock?
Been treating my walnut stock on the s410 TDR to some coats of oil to bring out the grain. How many coats do people usually apply, or is it a case of just suck it and see and stop when you are happy? I think I've put four coats on now, will put a couple more on (adding one every day) and see what it...
