OK I figured it all out.... my breach seal has gone AWOL :-( So I guess that's why the pellet is moving off center, the nose is dropping into the little groove where the seal sits, and also why I can feel air escaping when I shoot... though the two must somehow be related. I contacted them and they said I've ordered the hammer spring for the FAC version of the gun, and mine is not an FAC rifle it's a sub 12 ft/lbs one... In the ad I just saw S400 Hammer spring, didn't realise that they were different... oops.
